Bronze - Week 1 Level 2

Designed for all levels of knowledge from enthusiastic home mechanics to those already in the trade. The breadth of what we teach means that even experienced mechanics take away a great deal of best practice and access to equipment that they have yet to encounter. Jon and David will deliver practical and theory sessions, growing your confidence and knowledge before you embark on week 2. Week 1 will have prepared you to complete your level 2 qualification and the Level 3 content that is delivered in week 2

  • Workshop and event/mobile tool selection
  • Preparing frames and forks for assembly including reaming, facing and thread preparation
  • Bottom Brackets and Cranks - Standards, compatibility, diagnosis, repair and replacement
  • Headsets - Standards, compatibility, bearing identification, diagnosis, repair and replacement
  • Rim Brakes - Cables, calliper and levers, diagnostics replacement and repair
  • Gear Systems - Compatibility of chains, cassettes, cables, gear ratios and chain line calculation, deraillure installation and indexing, trouble shooting and drive train diagnostics and gear hanger alignment. Hub gear set up and repair
  • Hubs - compatibility, bearing replacement and adjustment
  • Workshop Practice - Servicing criteria, Initial inspection and diagnostics, customer communication, pre-delivery inspection, safety legislation
  • Rim & Tyre technology - compatibility, repair
